GHANA LEAGUE SPONOSORS ANGRY, LIKELY TO HOLD MEETING
Weeks ago television sponsors of the Ghana Premier League were left disappointed after travelling all the way from China to grace the launch of the new season. There has always been uncertainty when it comes to the date and commencement of the Ghana Premier League. Also present at the ceremony were the directors and marketers of Nasco Ghana Limited who were equally shocked at the way things went. The GFA boss and most of his deputies including the Public Relations Officer Saani Daara were missing at the event. The “reign” of Mr Kwesi Nyantekyi has been rocked with several issues and most of them are lawsuits. The Association has been sued consistently for about 10 years causing delays and making the league unattractive for sponsorship. This situation is very disgraceful considering the fact that Mr Nyantekyi is a lawyer. Many pundits believe that the Ghana Football Association has been a complete failure under his watch.
The league was prevented from commencement because of an injunction served by Accra Great Olympics. The injunction has however been thrown out and the league is scheduled to commence in March though the court case remains. The “wonder club” believes they have substantial evidence to remain in the top division. The league sponsors are however frustrated and angry because the issue had lingered for close to 6 months. This means that the FA and its officials intentionally neglected the case. Olympics being a traditional club is backed by top guns in Ghana and will not go down without a good fight.
